Jim Hanks of Ahlers & Cooney Receives Award from National PELRA
for Implementing New Reporting Mechanism
Des Moines, Iowa (May 24, 2013) Attorney Jim Hanks, Shareholder with the Ahlers & Cooney law firm, has received the 2013 Pacesetter Award from the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association (NPELRA).
The Pacesetter Award recognizes NPELRA members who have successfully developed a new tool or technique for use in resolving conflicts, addressing new challenges, or assisting others in their growth in public sector labor relations and human resources.
Jim received this award particularly for implementing a continuously updated trend settlement report on wages and insurance for cities and counties in the state of Iowa. This data is available to all IAPELRA members and saves them a significant amount of time by providing the data in a timely manner and easy-to-read format. In addition, his work developed an arbitration report that allows IAPELRA members to provide information on arbitrator decisions to a database which will later assist other members when selecting an arbitrator.
Jim graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1975. He has been selected for inclusion by Best Lawyers/U.S. News annually since 1995 for Employment & Labor Law. He is also recognized by Chambers USA for his work in Labor & Employment Law in Iowa. Jim’s practice includes advising and representing school districts, cities and counties in collective bargaining, labor relations and local government law.
For 125 years, Ahlers & Cooney has been providing comprehensive legal services to local, state, national and international businesses, educational institutions and municipalities.
