Olivia Brooks has joined the Ahlers & Cooney law firm as an Associate Attorney. She will be working with a broad base of clients, including privately-held corporations of all sizes, insurance companies, and individuals, as well as educational institutions and government agencies.

In the area of Workers’ Compensation, she will provide counsel with pre-litigated preventative matters, non-litigated matters, and contested case proceedings before the Iowa Workers’ Compensation Commission. As part of the Litigation practice group, Olivia will assist businesses in defending various claims ranging from employment/labor disputes, contract disputes, personal injury claims, product liability claims, and premises liability claims.

During law school at Drake University, Olivia served as Note Editor of the Drake Law Review in 2018-2019, and on the Junior Staff in 2017-2019. She was involved in several competition teams earning national and regional recognition: ABA Arbitration Team; ABA Moot Court Team; and the AAJ Mock Trial Team. She was also a Drake Law Research Assistant working closely with Judge Michel R. Mullins and Professor Robert Rigg on “The Iowa Sentencing Project,” which developed the Iowa Criminal Statutes Summary Chart.

Throughout law school, Olivia worked in the Drake Legal Clinic, Dallas County Attorney’s Office, and for Judge Vaitheswaran, Iowa Court of Appeals, as an Honors Judicial Intern. Olivia studied abroad in Nantes, France while at Drake Law School, and in Msida, Malta while at Luther College. Olivia is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and received her bachelor’s degree from Luther College, where she was captain of the Luther Mock Trial team.
