Attorneys Maria Brownell and Conner Wasson have been elected shareholders at Ahlers & Cooney, P.C.
Maria Brownell is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Public Finance Practice Groups, and works with public entities including cities, city utilities, counties, special districts and other local governments. She represents clients in both the litigation and appeals process. Her representation of municipal entities includes litigation in federal and state courts, as well as practice before administrative agencies in regard to such matters as public improvement contract litigation, open meetings, public records requests, and the exercise of home rule powers. Prior to joining Ahlers & Cooney, Maria was an Administrative Law Judge for the State of Iowa, Department of Inspections and Appeals. Maria currently serves as chair of the firm's Diversity Committee and is a graduate of Drake Law School.
Conner Wasson’s practice focuses on real estate transactions, environmental law, corporate law, and contract negotiation. Conner serves as the firm’s Real Estate & Environmental Law Practice Group leader. He has experience representing businesses, non-profit organizations, individuals, and educational institutions in the buying, selling and leasing of commercial and residential property. In his environmental law practice, Conner advises industrial, municipal and educational institutions on state and federal law compliance issues. Conner's general corporate practice involves a wide variety of matters, including the organization of entities, governance of closely-held businesses, and mergers and acquisitions of family-owned and closely-held businesses. Conner graduated from Drake Law School.
