Polk County supervisors and the Des Moines City Council have finalized the list of seven board members who will oversee a $101 million convention center hotel project downtown.

The board of supervisors established the Iowa Events Center Hotel Corp. as a nonprofit entity that will own the 330-room hotel and manage its development. The hotel developer, Weitz Co., and its yet-to-be-named operator will report to the IEC Hotel Corp. board.

Supervisors first appointed Gerry Neugent, local real estate guru and president/CEO of Knapp Properties, as initial director of the hotel board. The following six members — two appointed by the city and four by the county supervisors — will join Neugent with no set term lengths:

•Cynthia Eisenhauer, government finance consultant and former chief of staff for Gov. Tom Vilsack (county appointment);

•Grant Friesth, senior vice president for commercial lending at Wells Fargo Bank (city appointment);

•Mike Galloway, attorney with Ahlers & Cooney specializing in public-sector and employment law (county appointment);

•Adam Kaduce, commercial real estate director with R&R Realty Group (county appointment);

•Allen McKinley, former deputy city manager and finance director for city of Des Moines (city appointment);

•Susan Voss, vice president and general counsel at American Enterprise Group and former Iowa insurance commissioner (county appointment).

The new board is scheduled for its first meeting June 5, according to Polk County Administrator Mark Wandro.
