Background

A native of eastern Iowa, Keyan joined the firm in 2022 as a member of the Workers’ Compensation Law Practice Group. Keyan loves a good challenge and enjoys being able to focus in the area of work comp and its variety of topics and issues.

The Group serves a broad base of both private and public clients, including self-insured employers, insured employers, workers’ compensation carriers, and third-party administrators in both non-litigated matters and contested case proceedings before the Iowa Workers' Compensation Commission. He assists clients in pre-litigated preventative matters, including development of workers’ compensation policies and procedures and assistance in the investigation of complaints.

He also practices in the broader employment law and litigation areas, by assisting employers with ancillary concerns tied to workers' compensation claims, including return-to-work issues, terminations, ADA, FMLA, COBRA, OSHA, and HIPAA concerns.

During law school, Keyan served as a law clerk for Ahlers & Cooney during the summer of 2021. He served as an Honors Judicial Intern for the Iowa Court of Appeals in 2020, and an Area Prosecutions Division Intern the summer of 2020 for the Office of the Attorney General of Iowa. In all of these positions, he conducted legal research and drafted opinions and memos for the Judges and attorneys.
