| Environmental Law The environmental attorneys provide a full range of environmental expertise on federal and state statutes and programs. These lawyers service many clients in connection with regulatory compliance, administrative enforcement, obtaining permits, rulemaking, civil and criminal liability, and business and real estate transactions. The Firm's environmental lawyers work regularly with matters involving the Clean Air Act, Superfund, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act and laws regarding underground storage tanks, as well as Iowa's unique environmental statutes covering abandoned sites, hazardous conditions, and groundwater protection. These attorneys also review and advise on environmental aspects of business and real property transactions, including potential environmental liability of buyer, seller, lessor, lessee, and lending institutions. Protective transactional documents on environmental issues are provided as needed. The Firm has also been active in monitoring environmental legislation and rules and lobbying on environmental issues. Attorneys from the Environmental Law area and the Employment Law area work jointly to assist business and public sector clients in addressing compliance with Occupational Safety and Health rules, defending enforcement proceedings brought under OSHA and IOSHA laws and the civil actions which may arise from alleged work safety violations and workplace injuries.
