Philip J. Dorweiler was born in West Bend, Iowa. He received his
LL.B in 1950 and his J.D. in 1968 from Drake University and was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 1950.
He is a retired member of the Public Finance department of the Firm. He is a member of the American, Iowa and Polk
County Bar Associations. He is a founder of the Bond Attorneys' Workshop, a non-profit organization devoted to
continuing legal education programs for municipal bond attorneys throughout the United States. He also is a founder
and a past director of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL), which presently has a membership in excess
of 3,000 lawyers.
He is a Fellow, American College of Bond Counsel. He also is a Life Fellow of the Iowa State Bar Association Foundation.
He received an Award of Merit in 1976 from the Iowa Concrete Paving Association for legal assistance and advice
regarding municipal proceedings and financing. He also received an Award of Merit in 1996 from the Iowa Municipal
Finance Officers Association, and in 1998 he was elected to the League of Iowa Cities Hall of Fame.
He presently serves on the State of Iowa Banking Council, the State of Iowa Railway Finance Authority Board, the
West Des Moines Waterworks Board of Trustees and the Glen Oaks C. C. Architectural Review Committee. |
