Linda L. Kniep was born in Brookfield, Missouri. She received her B.A., summa cum laude in 1965, and a D.A. in English in 1977 from Drake University. Her J.D. is from the University of Iowa in 1981 with highest distinction. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Order of the Coif, Moot Court Board and recipient of the John F. Murray Award in law school. She joined the firm in 1993 and is a member of the Firm's Public Finance department. She is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the American, Iowa and Polk County Bar Associations.
