James R. Wainwright was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He received his B.A. in 1992 from Boston College and his J.D. (with honors) from Drake University Law School in 1999. While in law school, he clerked for the Honorable Scott D. Rosenberg of the Polk County District Court and also completed a prosecutor internship with the Polk County Attorney's Office. He was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 1999 and is a member of the General Litigation department of the Firm. He is a member of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Iowa Municipal Attorneys Association, and the Polk County, Iowa State and American Bar Associations.
