John D. Hintze was born in Davenport, Iowa. He received his
B.B.A. with distinction in 1970 from the University of Iowa and his J.D. with distinction from the University of
Iowa College of Law in 1973. He was a member of the Order of the Coif, and he was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 1973.
He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
He joined the Firm in November 1994, and is Chair of the Firm's Business Law department. Prior to joining the Firm
he was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. from April 1989 to October
1994. His responsibilities were extensive for Pioneer's worldwide legal, regulatory and government matters and
for operations within the company. From 1973 to 1989, he was in private practice.
He has held a wide variety of community leadership positions, including services as a member and President of the
West Des Moines Community School District Board of Education, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Board
of Directors, the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the West Des Moines Development Corporation
Board of Directors and other organizations.
He has served as lecturer for the Drake University Law School on wills and trusts and employee benefits and the
Drake College of Business Masters of Taxation Program on employee benefits. He is a member of the American, Iowa
State and Polk County Bar Associations. |
