Jane B. McAllister was born in Kansas City, Kansas. She received
her bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in 1971 and her law degree in 1974 from Washburn University
School of Law. She received a Master of Law degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1982. She
was admitted to the Kansas Bar in 1974 and the Iowa Bar in 1988.
She is a member of the Firm's Business Law and Local Government Law and Employment Law departments, representing
private and public sector clients in the areas of real estate transactions, real estate finance and environmental
law.
Prior to joining the Firm, she served from 1978 to 1987 in the Office of Regional Counsel of the United States
Environmental Protection Agency, Region VII, last serving as Associate Regional Counsel for Hazardous Materials.
As an attorney in that office, she was involved in the enforcement of various environmental laws, as well as the
drafting of federal regulations, the review of state law and regulations, and the interpretation of federal law
and policies. She was in private practice in Topeka, Kansas, from 1974 to 1978. She has served as environmental
law adjunct professor at Drake University Law School.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, and the Polk County Bar Association.
